WHITNASH WAR MEMORIAL

The memorial is to be found in the garden in front of St Margaret's Church, Whitnash Road, Whitnash. The garden is planted with 18 flowers, each flower representing a man who lost his life during various conflicts. The memroial takes the form of an obelisk mounted on a two stepped pedestal on a base with three steps leading to it. An addition to the memorial is a marble plaque celebrating 50 years of peace in Europe. There are ten names for World War 1, seven for World War 2 and one for Afghanistan.

1915
BATCHELOR	Ernest Edward	Private, 1301, 2nd Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment. Killed in action at Festubert aged 21 Sunday 16th of May 1915. Commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial, France.
1916
CHIMES	George Dudley Walter	Corporal, 33034, 6th (Service) Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, Killed in action at Le Transoy aged 34 Saturday 7th of October 1916. Commemorated on the Thievpal Memorial, France.
1917
BUTLER	Harry	Private, 25966, 20th (Service) Battalion, Durham Light Infantry. Killed in action aged 22 Sunday 3rd of June 1917. Buried in Dickebusch New Military Cemetery Extension, Belgium.
DUCKETT	Arthur J.	Private, 28809, 11th (Service) Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Battalion. Killed in action at Poelcappelle aged 25 Tuesday 9th of October 1917. Buried in the Voormezeele Enclosures No1 and No.2, Belgium.
MANN	Albert George	Private, 330771, 2nd/5th Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment (TF). Killed in action aged 26 Sunday 4th of November 1917. Buried in the Sunken Road Cemetery, France.
PARKER	Frederick Edward	Private, 16325, 1st Battalion, Coldstream Guards. Killed in action at Cambrai aged 25 Monday 3rd of December 1917. Commemorated on the Cambrai Memorial, France.
1918
ALLIBONE	Henry J. S. G.	Private, 266607, 1st/7th Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment (TF). Died aged 23 Wednesday 30th of October 1918. Buried in the Montecchio Precalcino Cemetery Extension, Italy.
BATCHELOR	Albert Thomas	Rifleman, Y/1251, 4th Battalion, King's Royal Rifle Corps. Died of wounds aged 37 Saturday 9th of November 1918. Buried in the Ghissignies British Cemetery, France.
BIFFIN (M.M.)	Sydney Richard	Private, S/10309, 2nd Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders. Killed in action aged 28 at Preseau Saturday 2nd of November 1918. Buried in the Preseau Communual Cemetery Extension, France.
OWEN (M.M.)	William Charles	Corporal, 658, 1st Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment. Killed in action aged 27 at Bethune Thursday 18th of July 1918. Buried in Le Vertannoy British Cemetery, France.

1943
SUTTON	Arthur Thomas	Private, 4036614, 1st Battalion, Kings Shropshire Light Infantry. Killed in action aged 23 in North Africa Saturday 24th of April 1943. Buried in Massicault War Cemetery, Tunisia.
1944
LANCASTER	Frederick W.	Corporal, 7046381, 1st Battalion, the London Irish Rifles Died aged 32 in Italy Thursday 2nd of March 1944. Commemorated on the Cassino Memorial, Italy.
OSBORNE	Alec	Gunner, 5109374, 9th Coast Regiment, Royal Artillery. Died in captivity as a Prisoner of War of the Japanese aged 25 Tuesday 2nd of September 1944. Commemorated on the Singapore Memorial, Singapore.
1945
HUBBARD	Charles Henry	Lance Corporal, 14918695, 8th Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment. Died at home aged 28 Saturday 22nd of December 1945. Buried in St. Margarets Churchyard, Whitnash.
WRIGHT	Derek Joseph	Serjeant (Air Gunner), 3050042, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Died aged 28 Monday 3rd of September 1945. Buried in St. Margarets Churchyard, Whitnash.
1946
HUGHES	William Horace	Private, 14316562, 11th Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment. Died at home aged 22 Wednesday 13th of March 1946. Buried in St.Margarets Churchyard, Whitnash.
BONEHAM	Ernest	Private, 5116191, Royal Warwickshire Regiment. Died aged 29 Monday 11th of March 1946.
