The
unveiling of the memorial to 'The memory of Allan Wilson & Brave
Men Shanzani (Matopos)'. During the 1st
Matabele War (1893) against the British South African Company,
Wilson and the patrol of 34 were all killed and buried at the place
of the killing. Regarded as England's equivalent of 'Custer's last
stand'. At Cecil Rhodes request they were reburied next to his own
grave in 1904.
