St Dyfrig's Catholic Church is located in Treforest and serves Pontypridd and the surrounding area. Worshippers come from Cilfynydd and Ynysybwl in the north, Llantwit Fardre, Church Village and Gwaelod-y-Garth to the south. When Gareth Leyshon took over responsibility for St Dyfrig’s Parish in 2007, HE inherited an ongoing effort to erect a memorial to the men of the parish killed during the First and Second World Wars. The driving force had been parish councillor, Mr Gary Packer, who had recently moved out of the parish. With assistance from Parish Council Chair, Mrs Lesley Hughes, contact with Mr Packer was re-established and the plaque completed, in the form of a simple piece of parchment-style paper in a modest frame. The plaque was formally blessed on Remembrance Sunday 2007 (which that year fell on 11 November). On that weekend, Gareth Leyshon was required to cover Caerphilly Parish due to the absence of the Dean, so the blessing was performed by retired priest-in-residence Rev Michael Cronin. There are 10 names for World War 1 and 13 names for World War 2.

DOUGHERTY	Philip	Private 12402, 11th Battalion, The King's (Liverpool Regiment). Died of wounds 15 November 1915. Aged 38. Born and resident Garston, Liverpool, enlisted Seaforth, Lancashire. Son of Robert and Jane Dougherty, of the Isle of Man; husband of Mary Hannah O'Neill (formerly Dougherty), of 19, New Park Terrace, Treforest, Pontypridd. Buried in WATOU CHURCHYARD, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Grave 9.
COLLINS	Thomas Joseph	Private 2141, 1st/5th Battalion, Welsh Regiment. Died on service at Gallipoli 6 October 1915. Aged 26. Born Pembroke Dock, residet Treforest, Galmorgan, enlisted Pontypridd. Son of Mrs. Mary Austen, of 27, Graigyhelva Rd., Treforest, Pontypridd. Buried in ALEXANDRIA (CHATBY) MILITARY AND WAR MEMORIAL CEMETERY, Egypt. Plot F. Grave 62.
FOLEY, DCM, MiD	Charles James	Lance Corporal 10634, "B" Company, 2nd Battalion, South Wales Borderers. Killed in action at Gallipoli 26 April 1915. Aged 23. Born Treorchy, Pontypridd, Glam., enlisted Brecon. Son of James Foley, of 18, Trehafod Rd., Trehafod, Pontypridd, Glam. Awarded the Distinguished Conduct medal (D.C.M.). and Mentioned in Despatches (MiD). No known grave. Commemorated on HELLES MEMORIAL, Turkey (including Gallipoli). Panel 80 to 84 or 219 and 220.
O’CONNOR	Michael	Corporal 345798, Labour Corps formerly 18454, Welch Regiment. Died on service in United Kingdom 10 October 1918. Born Bresna, resident Treforest, Pontypridd, enlisted Porth. Buried in GRANGEGORMAN MILITARY CEMETERY, County Dublin, Republic of Ireland. RC. Grave 597.
SCANNELL	Michael Joseph	Private 15771, "D" Company, 7th Battalion, King's Shropshire Light Infantry. Died of wounds 23 July 1916. Aged 26. Born Llantrisant, Glam., resident Treforest, Glam., enlisted Pontypridd. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Scannell, of 5, Collins Terrace, Treforest, Pontypridd; husband of B. SULLIVAN	Eugene	Private 9309, 2nd Battalion, Welsh Regiment. Died of wounds 10 November 1914. Aged 25. Born Treforest, Glam., enlisted Cardiff. Son of James and Catherine O. TOWELL	William Ewert	Private 26468, 18th Battalion, Welsh Regiment. Killed in action 24 March 1918. Aged 26. Born and resident Pontypridd, enlisted Rhos-On-Sea, Denbighshire. Son of William and Margaret Towell, of 6, Grail St., Craig, Pontypridd, Glam. No known grave. Commemorated on ARRAS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. Bay 6.

BRENNAN	John	Trimmer, S.S. "Beaverford" (London), Merchant Navy. Missing presumed killed when his ship was sunk by enemy action 5 November 1940. Aged 18.
