The memorial stands in the grounds of All Saints Church, Cressing. It takes the form of a tall rough hewn Celtic style wheel cross on a square plinth. The names are listed on the shaft of the cross and the dedication on the front face of the plinth. There are nineteen names for World War 1 and one for World War 2. The memorial was dedicated and unveiled by Col Evelyn Wood, DSO, 8 May 1921. Details appeared in the Essex Chronicle Friday 13 May 1921.

ADAMS	Walter [Sidney]	Gunner 30572, 205th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison artillery. Died 17 September 1917. Aged 27. Son of Henry and Eliza Adams, of Witham Rd., Cressing, Braintree. Buried in KANTARA WAR MEMORIAL CEMETERY, Egypt. Section D. Grave 67.
CLAYTON	John aka Jack	Private 250509, 5th Battalion, Essex Regiment. Died in Palestine 18 Decmber 1917. Enlisted Chelmsford, resident Cressing. Buried in BAGHDAD (NORTH GATE) WAR CEMETERY, Iraq. Plot XXI. Row U. Grave 26.
CROZIER	Bertie	Private 45262, 2nd Battalion, South Wales Borderers. Killed in action 3 December 1917. Born Cressing, enlisted Battersea. No known grave. Commemorated on CAMBRAI MEMORIAL, LOUVERVAL, Nord, France. Panel 5.
DRORY	Frank [J]	[Transcribed as DRURY] Driver 208729, 4th Field Squadron, Royal Engineers. Died 15 March 1919. Aged 28. Son of Joseph and Emma Drory, of Lanham's Green, Cressing, Braintree, Essex. Buried in BEIRUT WAR CEMETERY, Lebanese Republic. Grave 269.
HALLS	Arthur	Private 250485, 1/5th Battalion, Essex Regiment. Killed in action in Palestine 2 November 1917. Enlisted Chelmsford, residenr Cressing. Buried in GAZA WAR CEMETERY, Israel and Palestine (including Gaza). Plot XXII. Row B. Grave 13,.
HOWLETT	John H	Private 15847, 11th Battalion, Essex Regiment. Died of wounds 5 January 1916. Born Maldon, enlisted Chelmsford, resident Cressing. Buried in ETAPLES MILITARY CEMETERY, Pas de Calais, France. Plot VI. Row B. Grave 12.
JOSLIN	[William] Walter	Private 251163, “A” Company, 1/5th Battalion, Essex Regiment. Died of wounds in Palestine 3 November 1917. Aged 30. Enlisted Chelmsford, resident Cressing. Son of Thomas and Emma Joslin, of Links Cottages, Cressing, Braintree, Essex. Native of Riverhall, Essex. Buried in DEIR EL BELAH WAR CEMETERY, Israel and Palestine (including Gaza). Section B. Grave 87.

MOSS	George	Gunner 2123, 20th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Died of wounds 25 September 1915. Aged 39. Born and resident Cressing, enlisted Chelmsford. Son of George and Sarah Moss, of Witham Road, Cressing, Essex. He joined the Army at Great Yarmouth on 3rd September 1901 and spent a total of 12+ years in the Royal Artillery; from 1901-1904 then he re-enlisted until 1914. His height was given as 5’ 7’’ as having grey eyes, brown hair and of fair complexion. He did not marry. He then seems to have re-enlisted once again on 7th September 1914. He served in France in 1915 as a Gunner in the Royal Garrison Artillery and was awarded the British War and Victory medals. Brother of John (below). Buried in HOP STORE CEMETERY, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Plot I. Row B. Grave 8.
MOSS	John	Private 9202, "B" Company, 1st Battalion, Essex Regiment. Killed in action at Gallipoli 6 August 1915. Regular soldier. Born and resident Cressing, enlisted Braintree. Son of George and Sarah Moss, of Cressing. Brother of George (above). Buried in TWELVE TREE COPSE CEMETERY, Turkey (including Gallipoli). Plot I. Row C. Grave 11.
