The parish of Sutton-under-Brailes, with a population of less than 100, is separated from the centre of Stourton by just a couple of fields. After the Wesleyan Methodist chapel at Stourton was closed (it was later converted into a private dwelling), the memorial to members of its congregation was taken to the Parish Church of St Thomas à Becket at Sutton. This relocation in 1986 may seem a little surprising in view of the fact that only four of the nineteen men on the chapel memorial were from Sutton families. A stone memorial was also erected on the village green to two soldiers who died for their country. A further Roll of Honour exists in Sutton Church.

THORNETT	John [Edward] aka Jack	[Spelt THORNET on memroial] Private 12415, 11th (Pioneer/Service) Battalion, Hampshire Regiment. Killed in action 30th April 1916 recorded as 1st May 1916. Aged 41. Born and resident Mount Sorrell, Leicestershire, enlisted Warwick. Son of Alfred Henry and Sarah Ann (nee Bailey) and first cousin of Sgt Harry Bailey. Formerly 6671, Royal Warwickshire Regiment. Buried in Mazingarbe Communal Cem. Extension, Pas De Calais, France. He is also commemorated on the Mount Sorrell war memorial and Cherington Memorial
BAILEY	James	Private 23663, 10th (Service) Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment. Killed in action 27 June 1916. Aged 21. Born Stourton, enlisted Stow-on-the-Wold. Son of David & "Bess" (née Elizabeth Hunt) of Stourton and first cousin of Harry Bailey. Buried in Loos British Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France. He is also commemorated on the Cherington Memorial
GODSON	Joseph aka Joe	Private 10025, 11th Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment, Killed in action with his brother Albert (above) on 9 October 1917 in 3rd battle of Ypres. Born Snowshill, Gloucestershire, resident Cherington, enlisted Stratford-on-Avon. No known grave. Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Zonnebeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. He is also commemorated on the Cherington Memorial
JARRETT	Thomas	Private 10018, 14th Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment. Died of wounds 3 September 1916 in the Battle of the Somme, (July to Nov. 1916). Born Cherington, enlisted Stratford-on-Avon, resident Shipston-on-Stour.[1901: poss. son of Charles & Sarah A. Jarrett.] Unknown grave. Commemorated with more than 72,000 others on the Thiepval Memorial. He is also commemorated on the Cherington Memorial
JARRETT	Frederick [Stephen] aka Fred	Private 51014, 12th (West Somerset Yeomanry) Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry (Prince Albert's). Died of wounds 24 October 1918. Aged 18. Born Cherington, enlisted Stratford-on-Avon, resident Shipston-on-Stour. "Son of the late Thomas Jarrett of Stourton" [1901, haulier, wife Elizabeth][1901, aged "2".]. Buried in Estaires Communal Cemetery Extension, nr. Armentieres, France. He is also commemorated on the Cherington Memorial
GODSON	Albert aka Bert	Private 10026, 11th Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment. Killed in action 9 October 1917 in 3rd battle of Ypres. Born and resident Cherington, enlisted Stratford-on-Avon. No known grave. Commemorated on Basra Memorial, Iraq. Panel 9. Portrait from the Evesham Journal and Four Shires Advertiser, 27 May 1916.
HARRIS	Albert	Gunner 110127, 227th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Killed in action Monday 2 July 917. Aged 35. Born Sutton, Warwickshire, enlisted Straford-on-Avon, resident Banbury, Oxfordshire. Son of Thomas & Ann (née Nason) of Sutton. Husband of Amelia Harris (née Pratt?) of Sutton. Buried in Strand Military Cemetery, Comines-Warneton, Hainaut, Belgium.
